The 2008 Hun Sen Cup finalists have jumped out to the front as the league kicks into gear...
8 May 2009
Preah Khan Reach set the early pace in the Cambodia Premier League 2009 when they thrashed Phouchung Neak 3-0 in their first game of the season to take the lead at the table.
Khuon Laboravy gave Preah Khan the first goal in the 45th minute before a double from O. Olisa Emeka in the 68th and 77th minute ensured them the goal advantage over second-placed Kirivong Sok Sen Chey.
Kirivong, who were trailing Khemara Keila 2-0 from a third-minute strike by Cambodian international Kuoch Sokompheak and then from A. Anthony in the 53rd minute, did not lose heart.
They maintained their composure for In Vichhka to slam home the first goal for Kirivong two minutes later before Ly Ravy then grabbed the equaliser on 72nd minute.
With Khemara losing pace, Kirivong then struck a double blow through J. Chukwumeka in the 81st minute and then Him Salam in the 85th minute to win 4-2.
The result kept Kirivong just a goal ahead of Build Bright United, who edged Post Tel Club 1-0 with the solitary goal in the game coming off O. O. Adeseye in the 31st minute.
In the meantime, the match between Spark FC and Naga Corp FC ended in a pulsating 2-2draw.
J. Uch Prince had given Spark a bright start with the lead in the 15th minute only to see Naga Corp reply through Sun Sovanarith in the 38th minute.
Aum Thavarak then gave Naga Corp the lead for the first time in the match with the team’s second goal, three minutes after the restart.
But Prince managed to find the space and time to strike his second as well as Spark’s valuable equaliser for the one point.
