University of Redlands students recently completed a month-long study abroad community service project in Cambodia.

The eight students were accompanied by University of Redlands philosophy professor Lawry Finsen. Prior to beginning their project in Siem Reap, Cambodia, they visited Phnom Penh, Cambodia where they visited museums and the Killing Fields.

The students worked as part of the international community service organization Globalteer. During their time in Siem Reap they worked in a village where they taught English planted trees and built a maze. Prior to leaving for Cambodia the students designed the maze and garden; they each raised money to cover expenses to build their project. Most materials were purchased in Cambodia to support the local economy.

Seniors Cassie Miles, Tom Orantes and Eric Davis graduated from the University of Redlands only two days after their return from Cambodia.
