Bovine rampage injures three
An untied cow attacked three people, including a police officer, in Kandal province on Saturday. The victims were nursing injuries at a private clinic in Kien Svay district after the rampaging bovine charged them, leaving two damaged motorbikes in its wake. Police have not laid charges against the animal but have issued a warning that farmers should check their knots and not allow cows to run recklessly around the streets.

Man finds you can't always go home
A fugitive who was on the run for almost 10 years has finally been arrested after returning to the scene of his alleged crime. The 28-year-old man was arrested in Tboung Khmum district, Kampong Cham on Saturday, shortly after he returned from his decade-long absence. Police say the suspect was one of six thieves who escaped with a booty that included more than 1kg of gold following a 2001 robbery.

Police bust accused phone thieves
Three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of snatching a mobile phone in Poipet town on Sunday. The alleged bandits included a pair of 15-year-old girls as well as a 14-year-old boy. The teens told police that they were planning on selling a phone that they happened to find; the real thief, they insisted, managed to escape. Cops appear not to have bought the explanation and sent the trio to a rehabilitation centre, rather than to jail, because all three accused are minors.

No, really: Have another drink
Authorities say a 23-year-old man in Kampong Cham province was stabbed three times by his buddies because he dared to leave a coconut juice drinking session early. The victim, who was about to leave the country to find work abroad, survived the unexpected attack when he ran away. A local commune chief said the attack happened because the victim wanted to leave early. The three suspects have yet to be arrested.
