Man fails to mind his language; axing ensues
A 42-year-old man was arrested in Kampong Cham province’s Chamkar Leu district on Monday after he hacked a man to death for using naughty language. Police said the suspect was arguing with the victim while they were drinking together before storming off in a huff when the victim used “improper words” with him. Two hours later, the suspect hacked the man to death with an axe. The suspect confessed to the murder, saying he carried it out because he could not bear the sound of the victim’s “improper words”.

Suspects seen selling booty near crime scene
Two construction workers were arrested in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district on Sunday after they were caught selling jewellery they’d allegedly stolen from a garment worker. Police said the two suspects, aged 24 and 20, broke into the victim’s home and threatened her with a knife before tying her up and stealing her earrings and bracelet. Later, the victim’s husband spotted the suspects allegedly selling the loot at a nearby market, and reported them to the police.

Plantation guard stabbed and stripped
Police are on the hunt for a man accused of stabbing a plantation guard to death and stripping him naked in Kampong Speu’s Phnom Srouch district on Sunday. The victim was said to have been stabbed 15 times with a sharp knife before he was declothed. His shoes and clothes were found near his body at the scene. Police reported that the victim’s mobile phone was missing. It is not known whether the murder was part of a robbery or a revenge attack.

Alleged pickpockets nabbed by security
Two women were arrested in Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo district on suspicion of pick-pocketing a teenager on Sunday. The victim said the two suspects, aged 47 and 20, pretended to bump into her and then rifled through her pockets for money. A market security guard nabbed the suspects after the victim shouted for help.

Brother backs brother with plank and bottle
Police arrested a 27-year-old man accused of attacking a man with a glass bottle and a piece of timber in Kratie province’s Prek Prasab district on Saturday. Police said the suspect punched the 22-year-old victim while he was playing football, and then proceeded to beat him with a 2-metre-long wooden plank and a bottle. On his arrest, the suspect said he assaulted the victim because the victim previously beat up his younger brother.
