KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- Police have detained a taxi driver in Pantai Dalam early Wednesday who had earlier robbed and stripped his two Cambodian women passengers naked.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said a friend of the taxi driver who was also believed to be involved in the robbery had been identified and was being pursued.

"Items such as passports, suitcases, US dollar, Cambodian currency and ringgit and a taxi were seized from the man in the 3am operations," he said in his Facebook page on Wednesday.

Khalid said during the incident yesterday, the two women boarded the Proton Iswara taxi driven by the suspect from the Bukit Jalil bus terminal to go to Bukit Tinggi in Klang.

Both the women had just arrived from Johor Baharu and planning to return to their country of origin after working as tailors for two years there.

"However instead of taking both of them to Klang, the suspect drove to an oil palm estate in Felda Gedangsa, Hulu Selangor, before robbing them and stripping them naked," he said, adding that the suspect then drove away, leaving the two women.

Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor police chief Supt Norel Azmi Affandi Yahya said the suspect took the victims' passports, suitcases, cash from them amounting to RM900 and USD6,000 (RM13,800) as well as some jewellery.

"The victims were returning to Cambodia and their visas will expire tomorrow. They were assisted by the public who had taken them to lodge the a report," he said.
