SEX CRIMES
TWO British men who were under investigation for child sex crimes in Cambodia were arrested last week in Thailand on pedophile charges, according to Action Pour Les Enfants. Teng Maneth, a lawyer for the anti-pedophile NGO, said his group had tracked the men in Cambodia after they were suspected of engaging in sexual acts with four boys in Sihanoukville in March 2007. No charges were filed against the men at that time as they had left the country before police took action, he said. "I must congratulate Thai authorities for charging them," he said.
"Now, we must make sure they are brought to justice and that they are not allowed to travel to all of these countries." The men, who were arrested near Pattaya Beach, on the Thai resort island of Phuket, had previously served multiple-year prison sentences in England for pedophilia, he said. He said they had also been under the watch of the global watchdog Interpol. The British government has been criticised for not placing stricter travel bans on its nationals with past paedophilia convictions.
