VN MAN STABBED TO DEATH IN TUOL KORK
A Vietnamese man was fatally stabbed in his home following a friend's birthday party on Friday. Police said the victim, Ngvean Yaing Chiv, 30, from Phsar Daem Kor commune, Tuol Kork district, Phnom Penh, was stabbed with a knife after returning home. Police believe Ngvean Yaing Chiv and his killer or killers knew each other, though it is not known who carried out the attack.

PREY VENG FAMILY ROBBED AT GUNPOINT
A family in Prey Veng province was robbed at gunpoint in their home on Thursday. Police said four robbers broke into the home of Khim Sam Oeun, 51 and demanded money. His wife, Khuon Sophal, 53, was wounded after being struck on the head with a gun. The four robbers, armed with two guns, escaped with 6.8 million riels (US$1,656).

TAKHMAO POLICE RAID GAMING HOUSE
A police anti-gambling raid in Takhmao commune, Kandal province, netted a car, five motorbikes, five decks of cards, 102,000 riels (US$24.84) and led to the arrest of 18 gamblers on Saturday afternoon. Takhmao police said they believed the owner of the gambling house had been warned about the raid, as she had managed to escape.

LOVESICK SUICIDE THWARTED BY POLICE
Thom Ny, a 21-year-old from Preah Theat commune, Kampong Cham province, attempted to end his life by jumping off Kizona Bridge on Sunday. Police said his attempt was foiled, as he was rescued by police who were on the bridge. Police said Thom Ny had fallen in love with Dy Aun, 24, from Kraek commune, Kampong Cham province, a karaoke girl, and was depressed after she had told him she was married and could not abandon her husband.

MAN ARRESTED FOR POLYGAMY
A 26-year-old-man from Svay Rolum village, S'ang district, Kampong Chhnang province, became the first to be detained under Cambodia's monogamy law at the weekend, police said. Chan Chamreoun, 26, was detained Sunday after he left his wife, Thi Chanthy, 25, and secretly married another woman, Sun Chantha, 26, from Por commune, Kampong Chhnang province. Thi Chanthy demanded US$3,000 from her husband, who said he could only pay US$200. The pair could not reach an agreement, so Chan Chamreoun was detained by a Kampong Chhnang court.
