Man accused of raping 14-year-old maidA man was arrested after being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Battambang town on Thursday. Police said the man, 24, had arrived in town and called the girl, who was working as a housemaid in town. He asked if she would like to take a walk with him, then stay at a guesthouse with him that night. The suspect claimed they had sex no fewer than three times, and that it was consensual. However, the parents filed a complaint with police when they found out, and he was arrested when he dropped her off at home.

Cops make arrest after money-changer heistA 26-year-old man was arrested after committing a robbery in Kandal province’s Kandal Stung district. Police said the suspect was arrested Wednesday, but that his three accomplices managed to evade arrest. The four are accused of robbing a female money changer of roughly 5 million riels (US$1,187) and some phone cards. The man confessed to the robbery.

Cigarette seller suffers casino car hit-and-runA cigarette seller was killed while attempting to cross a road at night in Banteay Meanchey’s Poipet town on Friday. A witness reported that the man began to cross the road when he made the fatal mistake of stopping to look back. At that instant, a car owned by a local casino collided with him, “breaking his head” and killing him instantly. The driver fled the scene on foot, leaving the car behind and causing a traffic jam that lasted an hour.

Alleged killer caught after three-year huntPolice on Friday finally arrested a suspect accused of murdering a man in Phnom Penh more than three years ago. Police said the two men had an argument in March of 2007, when the suspect allegedly killed the victim and managed to flee the city. They said the suspect, from Kampong Cham province, was also involved in a series of robberies in the capital and had been jailed twice already. Police said they were on the lookout for more suspects in relation to the robberies.

Electrician accused of $10,000 embezzlementPhnom Penh police on Friday arrested an electrican accused of swindling more than US$10,000 from two of his employers. A company representative said the suspect took their equipment to install in houses in Kratie province, but kept the profits for himself. He confessed to the crimes and promised to return every last penny. He was sent to court for further questioning.
