BATTAMBANG ARSONIST ARRESTED
A man was arrested by Thma Koul district police on Wednesday for allegedly causing a fire which, since April 19, has destroyed hundreds of hectares of forest in Battambang province. Police said the arrested man was Thaong Yoeun, 62, from Battambang's Ta Poun commune. They learned that the man first cleared the land by cutting the bush and then later set fire to it. Eventually the man lost control of the flames and the fire spread to the nearby forest.

PHOTOJOURNALIST WOUNDED IN ATTACK
A Rasmey Angkor newspaper journalist, known as Vutha, was beaten and wounded after taking photos of an accident that involved two motorbikes. The attack happened on Friday on Sisowath Boulevard in Phnom Penh. The photojournalist reported the attacker to police, who said the case would be solved quickly.

METH DEALERS cAUGHT IN kOH kONG
Two people were arrested by Koh Kong police on Thursday in Cham Yeam village, Bak Khlang commune, Mondol Seima district, Koh Kong province for allegedly using and dealing illegal drugs. The arrested are Sem Seiha, 25, who lives in Cham Yeam village, and 28-year-old Thai national Chung Kat Chakryalinhung from Bangkok, on whom police found five packets of ice methamphetamine. Through questioning the two, police arrested another man, Um Sovandareuth, 25, and confiscated 14 additional packages of ice methamphetamine and two yama pills from him.

GANGSTERS NABBED, CLEAN UP FOR POLICE
O'Chrov police on April 21 arrested 12 gangsters for joining forces in attacking 20-year-old Vong Rath in Kuttasat village and commune, O'Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province. Their punishment involved cleaning the police station compound and some education, after which they were released.

PETS POISONED, MOTOS STOLEN
Three motorbikes were stolen out of a house in Damnak Chambak village, Ou Krasar commune, Damnak Chang'aeur district, Kep province on Friday. The victim was Sauth Ry, male, 47. Besides the motorbikes, three dogs and a cat were poisoned and later died. No evidence of the thieves was found.
