Foreign Minister George Yeo to visit Vietnam, Cambodia from May 22-28

SINGAPORE: Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo will make an official visit to Vietnam from May 22 to 25.

He'll be there at the invitation of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Pham Gia Khiem.

According to a statement from Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry, when in Hanoi, Mr Yeo will call on Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Deputy Prime Minister Khiem, who will also host dinner for Mr Yeo.

During the visit, Minister Yeo and DPM Khiem will co-witness the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding on strengthening cooperation between the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy's Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI) and the Central Institute of Economic Management (CIEM), and between ACI and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

In Central Vietnam, Minister Yeo will meet with Chairman of the Danang City People's Committee, Tran Van Minh, and Chairman of the Quang Nam People's Committee, Le Minh Anh.

Mr Yeo will stay on in Vietnam to attend the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) Foreign Ministers Meeting in Hanoi from May 25 to 26.

He will proceed to attend the Asean-EU Ministerial Meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from May 27 to 28.

In Phnom Penh, Mr Yeo will also officiate the opening of the new Chancery of the Singapore Embassy.
