PHNOM PENH - Boutique Southeast Asia-focused advertising and media network Riverorchid has won Unilever's media business in Cambodia following a competitive pitch.

Riverorchid will be responsible for the brand’s TV planning and buying in the market. The appointment extends the agency’s relationship with Unilever, which previously split its full cache of media assignments in Cambodia between Riverorchid and Bates141, which has a full-service agency in the market and works with Mindshare on globally aligned clients such as Unilever.

The agency additionally handles the creative work for all but three of Unilever’s brands in Cambodia.

The pitch, which began earlier this month, also involved several local media agencies.

“Unilever are a hugely supportive client and we are both honoured and delighted to receive this appointment,” said Ascon Caceres (pictured), head of Riverorchid’s media unit in Cambodia.

The Riverorchid Group, an independent media company in Cambodia and an affiliate of Initiative Worldwide, has 12 offices in Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam and works with clients including AirAsia, Intel, KFC, Nokiaand Western Union.

In March, Riverorchid Group bolstered its Southeast Asia creative team through hires that include Ogilvy & Mather Sydney art director Adrian McNamara as ECD of River Orchid's Vietnam operations.
