CHICKEN THIEVES COOPED UP BY COPS
Two teenagers were arrested in connection with an attempted chicken robbery in Battambang province’s Ek Phnom district last week, police said. The suspects were accused of using samurai swords to rob a farm of its chickens. A 55- year-old farmer filed a complaint to police after he learned that the robbers had threatened his workers with the Japanese-style swords. The suspects, 17 and 19, are awaiting trial, police said.

AMERICAN HUNTS FOR TROUBLE IN SIEM REAP
A 48-year-old US citizen was arrested in Siem Reap on Monday for using a gun in public. Authorities arrived on the scene after a report of a man throwing his belongings on the road and firing a hunting rifle. Two small parcels of marijuana were also found at the scene. The man told police that he was angry because the owner of the rifle had stolen his money half a month ago and is on the run. No one was injured. The suspect is being held at the provincial police station pending further investigation, police said.

MAN ACCUSED IN RAPE OF HOUSEKEEPER
A 35-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for raping his 17-year-old housekeeper in Battambang province’s Sampov Loun district. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the suspect lured the girl to watch TV with him while his wife was away, police said, and the suspect is currently detained and awaiting trial.

SUICIDE AVERTED AT JAPANESE BRIDGE
A 22-year-old Vietnamese sex worker attempted to commit suicide in Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo’s district on Sunday afternoon. The victim was frustrated that her mother was pressuring her to make money. She was stopped by police as she attempted to jump from the Cambodian-Japanese Friendship Bridge. She was advised not to try to kill herself again.

VICTIM OF BRUTAL CRIME DISCOVERED
The body of a 36-year-old woman was found in Kandal province’s Ang Snoul district on Sunday afternoon. The victim is believed to have been raped and murdered last week. According to police, she was beaten before she was raped and killed, but her jewellery was left untouched. A man was arrested in connection with the crime and is being investigated.
