Sotelco, the subsidiary of the VimpelCom Group, has announced it launched the Comverse (News - Alert) ONE Billing and Active Customer Management solution in a bid to support prepaid and postpaid subscribers and roll out bundled multi-play service offerings in Cambodia.

The new Cambodian mobile operator has also decided to implement Comverse’s voice and messaging services from the Comverse HUB, including SMS, MMS, ringback tones, call completion services, and management of mobile data services.

VimpelCom is already successful in Russia and CIS, noted Vladimir Riabokon, executive vice-president, VimpelCom. He believes that the commercial start under the Beeline brand in Cambodia is an important stage in the international development of VimpelCom.

The successful deployment of Comverse ONE at Sotelco has encouraged them to work with Comverse to expand this platform to additional affiliates and markets in the region.

The deployment of the Comverse ONE solution at Sotelco was assisted by Comverse Global Services who acted as the main service delivery partner for the project.

Comverse ONE Billing and Active Customer Management saves operators time and money. As convergent billing, order management and customer management are built around the same data model, they remove integration points and speed deployment times.

The operators are thus able to support new business models, and leverage the scalable solution to address the evolving business needs and phased transformation goals.

“Comverse ONE is ideally suited for all types of carriers,” said Urban Gillstrom, group president of Global Sales at Comverse. “While it’s a perfect enabler for greenfield operators, its advanced architecture supports the business and technical requirements of Tier-1 operators, such as VimpelCom.”

Comverse’s software and systems enable value-added services for voice, messaging, mobile internet and mobile advertising, converged billing and IP communications. TMCnet recently reported that Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) honored Comverse with its “2009 Telecom BSS Vendor of the Year” award for the Asia Pacific. This is reportedly the fifth year in a row that Comverse has bagged the prestigious award.
