KAMPOT pepper and Kampong Speu palm sugar will have their first official registration today, as the Ministry of Commerce moves into geographical trademarks. Such trademarks are an attempt to brand products for effective trading for local and international markets. Geographical branding and trademarks support production of quality goods that can be promoted for export, the ministry said. This in turn creates employment and improves incomes, while protecting the environment and promoting tourism, it said.

A REAL estate seminar to examine the current state of the market opens today at Raffles Hotel Le Royal. Cambodia Real Estate Market Intel 2010 – run jointly by Indochina Research, DFDL Mekong, ANZ Royal Bank and CB Richard Ellis (Cambodia) – comes amid a lag in the sector, with many developments languishing in the wake of the economic downturn. “This is the first seminar on the real-estate market in Cambodia,” Daniel Parkes, country manger for CB Richard Ellis, told the Post. Also, International Data Group will hold its Cam Build expo today on Diamond Island in the capital, which will include a presentation on Singapore’s experiences on building sustainability, among others.
