Cambodia to Host Asian Political Parties Conference in December

Cambodia will host the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in early December, aimed at enhancing exchange and cooperation between the political parties for the benefits of the peoples in the region, said a government release on Monday.

The two-day conference from December 2 to 3 will be focused on the main objects including "to promote exchange and cooperation between political parties with various ideologies in Asia" and "to enhance mutual understanding and trust among the peoples and countries of the region," said the release.

Promoting the regional cooperation through the unique role and channel of political parties as well as to creating an environment for sustained peace and shared prosperity in the region are also among the topics of discussion, it said.

Participants from 52 political parties include Jose de Venecia, former Philippine House Speaker, Founder, and Co-Chairman of ICAPP, and Chung Eui-Yong, Co-Chairman and General Secretary of ICAPP.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed, member of Pakistan Muslim League Party, and Cambodia's Yos Son, Vice-Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 6th General Assembly of ICAPP in Phnom Penh, will also attend the conference.
