Cambodian PM Urges Local People to Eat Pork

CAMBODIA, PHNOM PENH, AUGUST 17, 2010- Cambodian PM Hun Sen on Tuesday asked local people to eat pork after most of them preferred not to eat pig meats in a few weeks ago the blue ear pig disease hit the country.

The pig meat does not create any problems of health.” PM Hun Sen told the seminar of rice export at development council. When the local people stop eating the pork, the price of fish and beef at local markets increased its price nearly double.

You cooked the pig meat well, it does not create any problem, “Pm Hun explained. In the past few weeks, the pig illness hit the country. The government banned to import the pig from the neighboring countries like Vietnam and Thailand where the disease has spread its virus.

Each day, Cambodian imported about 1,000 pigs from the neighboring countries to supply local market demand.
