Dog-catchers crash while carrying canines
Two men died and another was seriously injured after two dog-catchers were involved in a high-speed collision with another motorbike in Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo district on Monday. Police said the dog-catchers were riding on their motorbike “like the wind” after they managed to successfully nab two stray pups. They then collided with a motorbike coming in the opposite direction, killing one dog-catcher and the other driver instantly. The other dog-catcher was seriously injured. One of the detained pups was pronouced dead at the scene, but the other managed to escape.

Kids beat man for hitting mum and cutting cord
Three siblings were arrested after allegedly beating a 28-year-old man they believe struck their mother during an argument over an electrical cord in Kandal province on Monday. Police said the siblings attacked the man shortly after he knocked their 55-year-old mother out cold. The mother had reportedly berated the man for cutting her electrical cord for no apparent reason. The three siblings were arrested, but the man managed to escape.

Alleged thieves nabbed after nine months of fun
Police on Friday arrested two men accused of committing countless robberies in Preah Sihanouk province, following complaints from several victims to local authorities. Police suspect the men, aged 28 and 17, made US$3,330 after they pawned goods stolen in raids dating back to January. They are also believed to have kept some valuables for themselves, including phones, motorbikes, cameras and a fan.

Red-light runner nabbed for fatal crash
A 27-year-old man was sent to court by municipal police following a traffic accident that resulted in the death of a 55-year-old woman in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district on Friday. The bereaved family has demanded US$5,000 in compensation from the man, who allegedly ran a red light with his car and collided with the woman’s motorbike, killing her instantly. He told court officials he could only afford $3,000.

Kandal police on hunt for attempted rapist
Police are on the hunt for a 61-year-old man accused of attempting to rape his 12-year-old female neighbour in Kandal province’s Sa’ang district on Monday. Police said the accused gave the girl food to lure her behind his house, before he gagged her and removed her clothing. However, an elderly woman saw them while walking by and shouted for help. The victim’s parents have reported him to police.
